1. To me it seems reasonable to write stories - including NPCs.
2. To provide some way NPCs can be held accountable for their actions. PCs can be "punished" by being made war on and / or imprisoned by foreigners and by banishment from the nation or deselection as regent by members of the nation. If a NPC thumbs his nose at a player, the only thing the player can do about it is write RP - unless the NPC owner provides some method for his NPC to be held accountable. Doing so seems only fair to me, if the NPC interacts with other players. An NPC should not have the advantage over a real player.
3. If an NPC and a PC compete for the same position, the NPC should step back in my opinion. An NPC should not have the advantage over a real player.
4. Deaglan, can you please state what about the suggestion to clarify who's who in the profile seems unreasonable to you?

QUOTE: Game rules
3. The Knight
It is the aim of this game to create a prosperous knight.
We do not approve of knights who show no development in the domain of fighting..
If your purpose is to create a prosperous NPC, obviously you're in the wrong game.
It's Role-Play board, the stories must be role-play.
QUOTE: The Knights (!!! RolePlay !!!)
... stories about the life of knights
Stories in Role-Play style about the life of The Knight mentioned in the game rules.
QUOTE:
The Nations (!!! RolePlay !!!)
... stories about the nations
The nations made by the knights. It needs 5 knights that a nation stays in the game, or it's 3 knights and 2 NPC?
QUOTE: Diplomacy (!!! RolePlay !!!)
.... only kings, foreign ministers and ministers of war are alowed to write here !!
If your NPC do not represent one of those mentioned above kings, foreign ministers and ministers of war, you are not allowed to write here.
QUOTE:
Turneys (!!! RolePlay !!!)
... stories of the greatest events
In how many tournaments your NPC participate? Did he had any success, taking in consideration he's kinda immortal?

Writing competition is not Role-Play. I'm talking about Role-Play and interacting with other characters within the game using a NPC in an unfair way.
Seighin Cumhaill and other players like Ronin / Petrus Secundus, the most prolific one, who teach me that an event not reflected in RP do not exist, Conrad the Humble / Daniel de Fortunate, Qalawun (deeply apologize to those not mentioned!!) was writing wonderful RP stories about their knights, enriching the game, but I don't recall any of them pretending they are playing a NPC and not their knight.
If your purpose is only to write nice stories, nobody stops you, but use the appropriate board
QUOTE: Myths and Legends
.... tales without boundaries
in the way I use it myself to write Two Tales Tavern:

@James
Sure there are differences between writing rp and writing a novel. But those differences have no bearing on the point I made: It is possible for a standard brain to imagine two fictional characters in conflict.
Your claim that only a split mind would be able to do so, was silly. I guess that you understood that by now is the reason that you did not repeat that argument since.
The rest of your arguments? You mention several restrictions on NPCs: They cannot write on the Diplomacy board, they do not count as knights of the nation, they cannot fight in tournaments... - So what?
Nobody denied that there are restrictions on NPCs. All those restrictions can be derived from one crucial difference:
NPCs are not represented in the game mechanics! - Therefore they do not count as knights of the nations, therefore they cannot fight in tournaments, therefore they cannot be foreign ministers or kings and so they are not allowed on the diplomacy board.
Pretty clear, isnīt it?
All these restrictions that do exist cannot justify the restrictions you would like to see: Restrictions on the use of NPCs in roleplay. Roleplay is the only place in this game where NPCs exist and in roleplay -as Hoern said- "you can play as much NPCs as you want"!

It certainly is clear, and well said.
Since I know you like interesting words, I congratulate you on your perspicacity!

Absolutely true!
If one tries to enrol one's NPC in a Turney - he does not turn up in the lists, the poltroon.
If one tries to duel with one's NPC - he does not fight, the coward.
If one tries to make one's NPC a Chancellor - he fails to turn up for work, the slacker.
If one asks one's NPC to join an army - he runs and hides, the traitor.
They're almost useless, those NPCs - all they do is talk, talk , talk!
Sometimes I wonder why anyone can be bothered with them, quite frankly!

Because our knights need an entourage and an environment, because our PC (Playing characters) need to be dressed and served according to their rank, because they need to talk to somebody, instead howling to the moon, because our knights are better described using those NPC's, because in various situations we need to use a NPC to represent our knight, because..

It was hyperbole, and as such amused at least one player.

This description is not correct. You listed some restrictions on NPCs that stem from the fact that those are not represented in the game mechanics. Insofar you just stated the obvious. Unfortunately you added some restrictions you would like to see.
I suggest that you follow the rules as explained by Hoern:
- You can play your NPCs as much as you want .
- NPCs can hold any rank and position that is not limited to PCs by the game mechanics.
- The importance of an NPC depends on the credit he earns from other players and nations.

You forgot to add the most relevant part of what Hoern says:
QUOTE: But if you take a look to the rules:
It has to be clear that the NPC is no character at the game - it is a third person.
I wonder why?
It's common sense that a NPC it's not your Playing Character only judging by the name. It's so difficult for you to understand that? Well, don't expect to draw you a picture, like Deaglan use to do, read my explanations in the posts above more carefully.
