I tought that this would be a nice adition here. So just basically speak about games you like be it tabletop, console or online like this one. Just spread your experiences of other games and compare them to what others think.
And its only fair for me to start.
Personally Mount&Blade is an exelent choise if you wish to expirience large battles and with its sewral mods it is guarenteed for most of people to find their favourites. But Total war series are also a very good ones as you controll a nation in turn based game and commanding armies in battles in real time making them my personal favourite strategygames.

Not really sure I posted this in the right place but... nah I'll see it if this gets removed.

Well.. in Mount and blade i see the weak point that the tactical elements are very crude also the strategic ones. In the one or another mod the people added some options in the economic building menues for the towns, but basically if your are a fan of tactics and strategics it may get boring after some time.

The Total War Series are the best games i think for the people who like the tactical elements. You have plenty of possibilities to act in the battle and the game recognizes the situation, level and positikon of the units. The bigger econimic system is good developed but easy hold, so the major part of the games is defenitive in leading the battles as general. The newest child of the total war series also gives the possibility of sea-fight.

The great rival to the total war series is the strategic series of Paradox Interaktiv. The most known is the Europe Universalis i think. Here you donīt take part in the battles, but the system of support, economy and the relation between strategy and diplomacy as far better than in the total war series.

True but paradox has habbit to distribute games where politics and strategy are stronger while Total Wars rely on the tactics of the battles. One other good medieval game from paradox is Great Invasions the dark ages '350-1066'. It has its perks.
From onliner there is the Last Knights. It is a text based where yuor an officer in your chosen country and you hire and lead army in the battle its kinda of text based rpg , but still rather addictive.

Total War with the Vikings Invasion was the best, the battles are so realistic (you can feel the strength and the weakness of every kind of troop, cavalry manoevres, specific troops for nations..). unfortunately don't work under winxp. I play T.W. II and the rest, even different mods but its not the same.. it was an unique game!
If you want pure strategy, Civilization IV is on top. I love this game, use to play every game from CiV series!
Also I like a game that is always a pleasure to play, Imperialism II.

Seems like my fellow players are into strategy here *chuckles*. Not to say that I'm not, I used to adore Medieval Total War, Mount & Blade (Swadians are sooo annoying), even Civilization or Age of Empires.

Yet my favourites will always be the RPGs, starting from Icewind Dale to the relatively recent, Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 Elder Scrolls III and IV, The Witcher or the Gothic series etc. It just gives you that specific feeling that you actually become your in-game alter-ego...

Annoying how? when on mass their knights are hard to defeate but so are many others but personally I prefer either Nords or Rhodoks and cavalry of mine are usually mercenaries.

I am currently playing Anno 1404, and I really love it. I have always been a fan of the series, and I love the city building theme so that is expected I guess. Actually I have played most of the other Medieval games, Age of Empires Series, Stronghold, Europa Universalis, Total War, are those that come to my mind atm

As for online games, (and if it will be seen as advertising other games I am really sorry) I love Renaissance Kingdoms (a medieval browser based RPG in which you play the role of a simple citizen in anywhere you choose in Europe)), and Native Kingdoms (which is the Native American version of that game).
