With a steady wind, the Dragonboats flew over the waves, and while Ish was still not as steady on her legs as most of the Vikings, she enjoyed the feeling of freedom that came with racing with the wind. She stood near the bow of the ship and gazed excitedly out at the waves made by the keel-timbers where porpoises played. The grey animals jumped over the white froth atop the seawater or seemed the delight in diving under the ship's side. Fascinated, the young woman watched the dark grey coloured animals for a while before they went their separate ways.
The cool wind and the excitement had coloured her face a healthy rosy colour and she leant against the railing with a quiet sigh, her mind wandering to the man who was about to wed her. From her own history she knew that love could make people do strange things, her mother had left her own people and family to be with her father and yet, Maleus was a king. He could wed a Princess and instead he had asked a lowly knight stolen from Denmark... her face reddened further and she bit her lip. It was a difficult time to think about, especially since her heart had changed since then.
Her blue eyes darkened with thought as she stood, as a noise broke out behind her. There was loud shouting from the pile of loot in the middle of the ship and she looked on amusedly as two burly men nearly came to blows over a trifling thing of silver. Conflicts here were more speedily, directly and violently resolved than those at court, there seemed to be little to no intrigue.
Her eyes fell onto the man that she was due to wed soon and she found him looking at her. A smile spread over her face but she stayed where she was, as she would rather not have to walk past the shouting men.
