It was one of the hottest days of the year and the armies of the Sultanate yet again came face to face with those of the Templars. They proved to be a difficult foe and even though the Fatimids won the first battle, the Sultan was not sure what to expect in the second one.
But what upset him the most was not the presence of the Templar armies yet again in Al Alamein, but a piece of information he had just received from his scouts, recently returned from around the Templar camp. He than looked directly into the eyes of one of his bodyguards:
QUOTE:
Bring me Saluf here immediately! Oh and also bring me one of the Templar prisoners...in chains.
A few minutes later Saluf appeared. The prisoner had to be dragged because of his pointless attempts to resist his captives. As soon as he entered the tent he was thrown on his knees in front of Alar.
QUOTE:
Saluf tell me, didn't you say your man is an expert assassin? If so, than why did my scouts tell me the Grand Master is still alive??!
Do you realize what have you just done, you incompetent fool?? The Grand Master will be surrounded by an army of bodyguards every single second, which makes another assassination attempt almost impossible.
I suppose I should be pleased I cut this tongue out...
Did you know Saluf that there was a time in which I was called Alar the Madman? Well, I was. And people used to call me that way because I had the habit of...beheading my enemies, even those that acted as simple messengers. The Lithuanians learned that on their own skins. What those people didn't know is that I could have easily done the same thing with my own men, especially with those that prove to be real incompetents.
Look at him Saluf, look at the once mighty Templar knight! Only a few days ago he was charging towards me in one of those...futile cavalry charges. The nerve! And now he is in chains. No armor, no weapons, no horse, no red cross, only his dirty robe and a pair of chains. Look at him and learn from his example Saluf, because if you fail me one more time you will end up like him. Than again, if I will get angry enough I might even do this:
Alar pulled out a dagger and the Sarazen Saber from one of his bodyguards and cut the Templar's throat. Than, after a few seconds of torment, using the Saber, Alar cut off his head, which rolled over until it reached the dust just outside his tent. The blood jumped on his face and on the face of his bodyguards, who didn't even blink. He than went to Saluf and cleaned his sword of the Templar's blood using his expensive robe.
QUOTE:
I trust I made myself clear. If not, than the next head that will roll will be yours. And your throat will remain open for much longer than his, just enough for you to have time to drink your own blood. You will find a way to kill the Grand Master and you will find it soon! I don't care if you have to use poison, snakes, arrows or swords, just get it done!
Oh and one more thing: make sure the head of the Templar ends up in the middle of the Templar camp. Bury the body.
Alar than left the tent and went to one of his concubines.
