A formal Introduction to Mercantile Knights      29.01.2010 04:10:12 --- 7 Months, 1 Week ago
As the weapon-smiths hammered away at the new dents in his axe blade, removing the chips of the edges,
The Grand Master of the Georgian Teutonic Order of Knighthood looked on.

As the Armorer and tailors repaired his Leathers he looked on at the precision they used to achieve his expectations.

We need the combat, but not the conflict. I feel we need the field of true contest of skills not friendly fights with men we already know much of. A tournament . It will also introduce us to the world around Georgia.

If others need us, they need first to KNOW about us. I think an invite to a tournament should help improve our image and reputation. Even if we lose we will be remembered when the bandages come off our opponents.
Maybe that will show them we mean Business. Get us hired to fight so they can lose less of their OWN blood?

As long as we earn a reputation, we can get better as we go until we are priceless!.

So A date was set and a place selected. Invitations sent!

QUOTE:
All who have the desire to Fight but not the need for war! Come, come and display your hard earned skills in the Home of the Noble Proffessionals, Home of the Warriors.
Prikubanskaja, the Georgian National Capital.
We shall fight a battle extreme...where NO warrior is your allie in open Grand Melee!
We shall joust for those who wish to display those noble steeds and the sheer force of man and mount united in conflict!
We shall offer individual combat, personal triumphs in succession until only the unarguable victor remains to be celebrated as the mightiest of the day!

Entry fee is a mere 5 silver.
The purses are guaranteed at 30 silver, what an exchange 5 for 30!
No knight or Northman, guard or grand Marster, King or free warrior will be denied. All will be entered if they pay the fee!
In the Georgian capital on the 1st day of February 1016 Anno Domini (18 Feb RL)
May the Best Warrior Win!

I hope they have enough time...I hope they see the need to MAKE time.

Seeing it was time to prepare the tournament Grounds , Bruno sent his Army home after the training battles against the Armenians.

He surely wished the peasants had understood the purpose and NOT sided with his men against the numerically superior force. But it did make him proud of the reputation of his men that they would do that for him.

The tournament was likely the last before some serious Army to Army fights over this foolish crusade.
The tournament would continue exactly because it was to be a last celebration for a while.

QUOTE:
I would like to thank all the knights who showed their spirit and Honor throughout this tournament.

A brotherly salute to the Syrian monarch, Tehalon of Derby.
Thank you for coming such a long way to join us and share in these fetes of strength and skill.
~~You honor us by your presence. Please join us again in any contests you wish.

I am glad to also say the man who bested me in duel also went on to win the tournament.
~~A situation which takes some off the sting out of my own defeat.

The Champion in the melee by a narrow margin AND the Champion of the duels Is hereby announced the Tournament Knights Champion!
The Free Knight Hubertsberg wins the glory of these days festivities! We salute You!
~~unfortunately I cannot pin the award to his plate steel armor!

A special thanks to the knights of Armenia for their participation.
~~Take a bow and better luck next time.

And above all I wish to thank my own knights, Military Governors Ralen and Kyross for their unflagging support and tenacity.
~~Without you this nation would be a place of barbarism and chaotic and petty aristocratic despots.
Without you their would have been no Nation to hold this tournament in. I bow to You.

Now let us feast and drink toasts to each of our brothers and sisters, praying that all may continue their journeys home safely.
To Knights of Skill and Honor!

With his speach done a huge flagon of ale is raised by the Grand Master, Bruno Faustus, and passed around for all the knights to share a drink from. A feast of celebration is brought out to the great joy of the hungry knights. Happily, even the civilians who came to watch are served late into the night and the atmosphere of goodwill and unity lasts into the wee hours of the morning after!

Watching all with a smile Bruno allows a short lived moment of regret and thinks to himself....Maybe the world will have enough peace in it by next year to get even more knights to come.
