If somebody propose an old idea or come with old arguments, he is advised to come with something new, because that was discussed already, based on the reference to the topics.

If the topics are not available anymore, the reference is impossible to be made.
A sort of:
" It seems that idea was discussed already, not sure, let me think.. I guess it was the same.. or similar.. can't remember exactly."

Only a person not use to it with forums can propose such a deletion. The topics represent people's opinions and if are posted according to the rules, nobody have the right to simply delete it, because you don't own them.

So, I'm afraid that I must contradict my favorite RP mod: moderators duty is to enforce the rules, they don't have the right to delete people's opinions if posted by the rules.

Contributions in developing the game should stay for further references and proposals who was not accept it the same, to avoid having the same proposal again and again or who knows, even for improvement.

You're still not seeing the central problem Greg: leaving old arguments on the boards feeds back in on itself and just causes increases... not only in tension, but also for those same arguments to come back. You can talk all you'd like about saying "this has already been talked about" However that is never going to end an argument that comes up that way, only increase the bitterness and heated tension that might already exist.

In regards to your forum comment... No one here is unfamiliar with forums, and only someone who knows they are on a fundamentally shaky ground argument wise would resort to automatically calling others qualifications into question because they disagree with you.

The proposals and their results would be kept... as stated multiple times in a special post for easy of reference while the debates themselves would be neatly tucked away into an archives thread for those who really wish to dive into them. For most it would be an out of sight out of mind issue and that would provide the community with a buffer against repeated arguments of the past (no grudge like an old grudge as the saying goes). Any time you wished you could dive down into them and pull out obscure references from debates that might no longer be relevant to the current needs of the community to further inflame serious discussion.

Problem solved.

Additionally... Flo has the right of it and that sounds like a good compromise.

It's not for you to decide nor a moderator have the right to delete people's opinions posted in concordance with the rules. Only the owners of the board can decide a board deletion.

You can brag all day long about the bitterness of the past, but if such thing exist, it will return because it's in the people's minds, not because of the old topics who should stay for further references.
You will propose a wash brains too in order to prevent people's actions based on the events in the past?

Everybody who propose an undiscriminated board deletion is not familiar with the forums and disrespect the people's opinions, that's a conclusion, not a comment.

You keep saying the same thing, disregarding the arguments that shows you're wrong and you always did the same. Unfortunately with that kind of attitude nobody can reason with you. I think you should learn to listen other's opinions based on arguments before jumping in such debates, not to mention asking topics deletion because puts you in a bad light and hiding in such arguments as "bitterness of the past.." is not the fairest thing to do.

Since only the owners of the board can decide a topic deletion or an archive thread to be made, I expect Hoern decision in that matter.

Greg, you do make me laugh sometimes, I have to admit. Thank you for that.

You've made a career out of disregarding others opinions and ideas and you'd be hard pressed to find many people willing to defend you on that. And that's cool.. Not only that you've stayed with the same argument here as well and not only doesn't it prove I'm wrong in this case but actually reinforces my point.

Who isn't listening to whom? I moved from deletion to archiving four posts ago once it was brought up yet you continue to talk as though I'm advocating deleting everything... literally no one is pushing for that anyone but you keep arguing against something that no one is even for anymore. You're basically picking an argument that no longer exists because it allows you to oppose an idea that wasn't yours.

I can only think that his "experience" you speak of must be limited to a very narrow and closed-minded number of sites that closed you off from the vast majority of communities on the internet. Fact of the matter is online communities that are going to go the "distance" require a much more active and proactive moderating team empowered by the owners to actually... shocker I know... moderate behavior. Which often means some level of censorship as we've already discussed.

I understand that you have a vested interest in keeping those arguments in the past active because you see them as the wrong decision having been reached: which is exactly why they need to be moved to an archived section and again reinforces the point that it needs to be done. The fact that you're still popping off on what the RP mods can and can't do regardless of the established fact that they've been empowered to do more than your narrow interpretation also underscores the point that moving old arguments to the archive thread is important. Why? Because we don't need new players reading the level of disrespect that has been shown to the moderation team in the past.

I know you want to re-fight all your battles whenever someone disagrees with you Gregory, and I understand where that comes from. But that's not going to stop the rest of us from working to improve things in the community for the rest of the players and pushing for ideas to keep it vibrant and healthy and not die an ugly death brought on by conflict.

Just a little technical update. Now the knights council is also responsible to moderate this section. I am just a writing player now...

Thanks for the update.
Moderating means we will decide by majority as it is of course still important and not likely to be done by one on his own behalf without talking with the others.
I'll just ask the rest of the council and then we'll decide.

THEREFORE LOCKED
