Erico della Corte, the young king of Italy walked through the hilly landscape of southern Thracia, a region he heard about often, cause of itīs largest and most famous city:Constantinople, the second rome.
He didnīt knew much about the history of this part of the world, but it seemed to be an important one.
The Greeks should have built this city, the emperor constantin gave it his own name, and now many people Erico heard speaking of it, acknowledged itīs the hugest city all over the world-yet Erico hadnīt seen any city but Milan, so he was really amazed by the assurance, that he would soon be going to see the city connecting two continents, two worlds with each other. His first reason for travelling to there, he wanted to get one of the famous spears of the byzantine weaponsmiths, absconded and abdicated behind the excitement of seeing this place so many grat names are connected with.
"It wonīt last long until I can see it at the horizon, together with the down-going sun of the orient-maybe the sun rises in Constantinople? I think this isnīt impossible, as the cityīs visitors told me."
