Unfortunately some players seem to think it appropriate to insult and offend some other players through using references to modern and notorious political/military events and persons.
This is both anachronistic: these people/events didn't exist in the 11th century; and unpleasant and boring for the majority of players who are not interested in such nonsense.
Hoern has previously stated that references to Nazi people and events are not permitted, I propose this be extended to include other modern political/military people and events. For simplicity, this would be all such people / events, to avoid someone having to make a judgment as to whether a person / event is a war crimnal / war crime. So I suppose (to take an extreme case) that someone could not call their character or NPC "Ghandhi". That is unfortunate, but may be an unfortunate necessity.
References would be forbidden in everything outside of national forums, including:
- character names (including NPCs)
- names of horses (since I'm sure someone will try it)
- tavern talk
- player profiles
- public forum posts
