Good grief, I did not previously read this thread and did not realize how dead serious some players take historical accuracy.

I still think any RP is good RP and potential RP writers, whose style might improve in time, should not be frightened off writing RP, or we'll end up with a miserly one or two RP postings a week and the game will die. Considering the fact that most players aren't native English speakers, the pool of potential RP writers is limited enough as it is.

However, if the most ardent RP critics are willing to do something constructive and offer themselves as editors, we could start a new off-topic thread where RP drafts could be edited before being posted in the sacred RP boards. I would not have any problem in principle with putting up my drafts where they could be picked over, edited and improved. I would also be willing to act as an occasional editor for anyone who does not speak much English / is using a translation program and wants or needs help with eliminating mistakes inserted by a translation program into RP drafts.

If however you critics aren't willing to act as editors before posting, you will have to live with occasional inaccuracies in RP.

Another approach I could live with regarding faulty RP would be for the person who objects to that RP to send a NPC tutor, master of ceremonies, heraldic expert or similar person to the sadly undereducated knight in RP to teach them better in RP (e. g. points out that the correct title for the Polish Monarch is king not queen, or that a king in general is addressed as majesty and not highness, unless you're being deliberately offensive).

Take whatever route you like that does not spoil people's fun in writing RP.

Upon rereading my posting of two days ago, I notice it shows, that I was feeling rather miffed at the time I wrote that.

There are so many things RP writers have to get right or avoid doing.

1. Newcomers blabbing secrets, because they did not realize that information was classified - in that case pointing that out is of course entirely necessary and justified.

2. Historical accuracy (hardly possible for England which would at this time forever be changing hands between Anglo-Saxons, various Vikings, Danes, Normans,...). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Saxon_England Besides in a few more RL months or years we will have left that, for England so confusing, period of time behind us and will reach a better known period of history.

3. Accurate KH history.

4. Mangling of language.

5. RP Rules of this board. Which might be open to much interpretation in different directions.

6. Writing in a moderately interesting manner that does not put the readers to sleep.

7. Whether this is a war game and RP should be war related - or whether folks may write about anything at all that might happen to their knights, that catches their fancy, is also open to debate (I take the latter position).

8. Not causing unplanned diplomatic incidents with a RP posting.

So I vote to allow RP writers as much latitude as possible without disturbing the KH community. Though if anyone wants to set themselves up as RP editors, in a separate thread, for editing of drafts before posting, I'll still happily use their services.

Anyone addressing RP to me does not have to watch every word they write, as far as I am concerned, if they are willing in RP to have the closest handy object hurled at their heads, literally or figuratively, if they are rude.

Facts about the northern Nations:

Iceland, had no own King or Konungr in medieval times, it was controlled by Norway, later by Denmark (after the beginning of the personal-union of the northern Nations in the late XIV Century ).
It is more to compare with a democracy than with a monarchy even tho they had tribe-chiefs, all important decissions were discussed and formed by the Allthing some kind of parliament of important and off course "Free" people of that island.

The Kingdom of Norway was not a sole Nation it was more a collection of Kingdoms that were bigger and smaller till they had been united late in the XI Century till that time Norway consisted of at least 3 Areas ruled by different Partys: Trøndelag - Ladejarls; Vestlandet - the Norwegian King; Østlandet - Denmark...
Furthermore ruled the norwegian King over the Orkneys and Shetlands and saw himself as the Heir to the english Throne because one of his ancestors was the english King Knut.
In the late XI till the XIII Century Norway had sometimes more Kings at the same time because several candidates had been accepted by the several Things in the country

Denmark had a claim on the english throne because a former danish King was also King of England.

England is still Anglosaxon!!! I guess nearly no English Lord would speak French or "Normannic" at this time even tho one of the last Anglosaxon Kings had an Normannic Lord (Earl/ Jarl)...
together with it "England has no Claims in France and off course it is not the Angevin Empire!" this Empire existed at least hundred years later

Wales is an own Kingdom if you can name it so but its not anglosaxon and not normannic at this time.

I'm curious , who is the first king of England in this game? For what I see is Richard I the lion heart, then Gregory came to England from Vatican. Aragon de Wolf then became the king. then Lilith became the first queen and Elizabeth and Anne. Am I right ?

I'm talking about James's thread about real history. Since he said England cannot be called Anglo-Saxon any more.
I'm not saying the whole population in England at that time is Saxon. Of course there are some Danishes, Celts and some low positioned Normans, but the Majority of the population is still Saxons. Normans tried to change the cultural into French and Latinic totally but failed. The cultural did significantly being changed but never changed enough to become totally different. In fact, Nobles with Norman origin just kept speak French for about 300 hundred years and then give it all up themselves. English became the language of the law courts again after that which means the official language at that time, although it already had changed a lot.

So England is still can be called Anglo-Saxon, the cultural is a lot different from Scotland, Wales and even Cornwall. And of course, definitely is not comparable with French.
