Benefits for using two weapons instead of shield? 09.11.2011 13:31:18 --- 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago

I've been tinkering with this idea for a while - to swap my shield to a second hunnish saber. But since the sabre is fairly expensive I was wondering what the exact formulas are. What will I lose from this switch and what I will gain? I found nothing on using two weapons in the rules, which are vague at best concerning weapon stats.

I have read in various postings that you must not buy the same weapon twice, since the game engine cannot keep e. g. two Hunnish Sabres apart. You could however get one Hunnish Sabre and one common Sabre.

The only reasons to use two weapons are:
i) one thinks it looks good!
ii) one is changing weapons - put the new weapon in the off-hand to train it (it trains at the full rate), whilst continuing to use the old weapon in the main hand (with high skill, so you can still win duels). Once the new weapon is trained, switch it to the main hand and resume using a shield

look here for really interesting discussion about this:
http://knights-honor.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,181/func,view/id,34358/catid,46/limit,10/limitstart,0/
here i think there is an explanation about skill increase benefits using 2 weapons (same kind in both hands if you wanna have a little bonus on skill):
http://knights-honor.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,181/func,view/id,78265/catid,2/limit,10/limitstart,10/
Also in help section:
QUOTE: Forehand (right hand) is much more important than the offhand. If there is a two-handed weapon euipped to the forehand, the offhand will be empty.
Offhand (left hand) should not be equipped with heavy weapons. If you want to equip a weapon here, you should pick a weapon with a high value in speed and accuracy since they are used for defense. Best idea is probably to equip a shield. Regarding armor, the only setting that can be made is whether armor should be worn or not.

No, you can wear two weapons. You're talking about shields. The situation is different, since you can only wear shields offhand and he wants to wear both weapons at the same time, if I understand him right.

Yes, sure, you can wear two weapons. But there was some discussion about what happens, if you have two exactly identical weapons, e. g. if you use two hunnish sabers, as the questioner suggested.

Not similar weapons like bedouinish spear and byzantinian spear, but two times exactly the same weapon.
That seems to cause problems, the tech mods say, because each weapon is assigned a number in the game engine and if two weapons have the same number, there seem to be problems with keeping the weapons apart, causing troube with repairs for example. Anyone who speaks German can read up the discussion here.

Unless some technical change was made in the meantime?

I tried it and it works only partially.
The engine will make no difference between the two identical weapons.
May happen that you have 0% on the first sabre and 100% on the second but you still cannot
fight since you can't change weapon hand if it is identical for the engine.
I encountered the problem with two daggers (Electra style)
The work around is using similar weapons not exactly the same.
Anyway it is Kung-Fu style not Knight's style to use two weapons instead of weapon and shield...

You can wear two hunnish sabres, if you want.
It's exactly like Myrkira discribed it. No issues with using two weapons besides only one deteriorate it's condition.
