Pope Urban II,
The Fatimid Nation Rejoice and praise Allah in our victory over your defenders of your beloved Jerusalem. The gates of this stronghold are closed to all followers of Christianity. If you wish to view the city again, you and your followers will have to tear down the defenses and destroy the very place you love. I have already put in place a scheme, to burn the city should you issue the order of a Crusade against our city. The consequences of the destruction of buildings and people will be put on your head.
However we are not without respect.
- The bodies of the fallen will be outside the gates of the city, i have given orders to our archers to not fire upon any man who comes to collect them for proper Christian burial. Some of the fallen are somewhat hard to identify, and we were not able to find all the pieces of some of the more unfortunate victims.
- Upon collection, you must have your banner bearers in view, we will sound the horn from the wall to achknowledge your presence, it will also signal the archers to not fire until the horn is sounded once more.
- The clergymen will be released from the city unharmed, they have rations and will be escorted by a small company of our scouts to the nearest Christian shire. All have been given the same warning. If they see us again, it will be the last thing they will see before recieving Allah’s judgement.
Remember these words, see our kindness, and remember my promise should Christian armies seek to take your Jerusalem back from us.
With Respect,
Dondarian de Vignolles
Vizier of Foreign Affairs in the Fatimid Court.
