We can get 5 years in prison
or $500K for a first offense
willful copyright violation here in the US. 10 years for a repeated offense
and up to a million dollars in fines. It seems like a lot but I read that in Germany the fines are unspecified which is a bit scary.
According to IUSCOMP, German copyright law protects literary, musical and artistic works. A copyright violation for K-H would be someone using the HTML to make an identical game with different or the same graphics. In this case James was quoted in a screenshot word for word and, based on this thread, nothing was changed in his text. He was also given proper credit so as such I do not believe it is a copyright violation.
Usually copyright is only about authenticity and credit, unless it's also about money which, as the saying goes, is "the root of all evil".
Enjoy your tea.
