QUOTE: To Burgundy
To Denis de Fecamp and the Pope Urban III
Every day I read letters bearing the message of the death of Pagans and Vikings by Christian hands and swords. Now the time is ripe for vengeance. My navy and army were on their way to Vatican City for the payback ,but we heard that the Pope had found a new home in Burgundy.
Bring the head of the Pope to the Swedish General and the army and navy will leave. No option for discussion.

To_England: ----------------------------
Her Majesty Elizabeth de Lorraine,
in the deepest hour and without our Pontifex Maximus, I must reprimand you as Camalengo and deputy master of the Papal States. Angry Viking invaders in ultra-Catholic country. Murdering and pillaging.
After Burgundy also has accepted the death of his Holiness, I would like to ask you that you will resist this danger side by side with your Catholic brothers from Burgundy. We consider the protection of all Catholics even higher than our person and Burgundy are in their hour of distress to the side.
We advise you well, quit this rag immediately and seek your Räue appropriate buses in the pilgrimage to Rome and help your brother and sisters agains the devils of Sweden!

To her Majesty Elizabeth de Lorraine.
The old Pope Urban II, is death and I think there is no doubt about it.
Now all the Catholic Nations will have to decide about the new Pope.
But the problems betwen your Nations and Granduchy of Burgundy, is a big problem in this moment.
My intentions was to go in Rome, for the Conclave, but I can't leave Italian Lands with stranger armies on Italian borders.
So I'm writing this letter to ask you to go togheter to your army actually in Provence in Rome, I'm sure there we will be able to find an agreement about the new Pope.
I hope you will accept my request.
On the way, I will have tho opportunity to know your Knights.

QUOTE: To Rhodry, King of Italy
I must inform Your Majesty that the Queen Elizabeth is rather busy at the moment in Wales, re-taking the shires plundered by the Castile thieves, so she is forced to decline your kind invitation to visit Italy.
I'm sure as soon as the Queen will have some time she will be happy to pay a visit to your beautiful kingdom or join you in a voyage to Rome.
We did not know anything about a previous "old Pope Urban II", nobody in England heard of him, but we discover a Grand Duke of Burgundy plot against the Holy Church and against England using a heretic preacher.
We deplore in the same measure the fact that we was forced to interrupt our voyage to Rome and we are eager in the same measure as the rest of the catholic countries to attend to the Conclave, but our duty as good and faithful servants of the Lord come first.
We was forced to deal with the heretic plot and it is Burgundy who needs to be blamed for disturbing the elections. They did everything in their power, using agents, heretic preachers, lies about Camerlengo and England in order to disturb the Conclave, I don't see why we should be blamed because we are merely doing our duty as good and faithful catholic people.
So, I suggest that you should invite the Grand Duke of Burgundy to a walk at Rome, if he is not too busy with the heretical plot against the Conclave, of course. He will have the opportunity there to confess his crimes against the church and against England. In this case our work here will be concluded.

Your Holiness, we found strong evidences of a Burgundy plot against the church and against England.
A letter saying you're an impostor and England is not a catholic nation.
Obviously the letter was written by a disturbed mind, but it was delivered by a Burgundian messenger.
Eye witnesses speaks about a false prophet preaching the same things under the protection of Grand Duke of Burgundy.
We will not let the good name of faithful catholic nation as England to be dragged in the mud by heretic Burgundy. Sweden are our guests, no less, no more, we share with them bread and water that we have as good christian we are. We are all children of God, maybe our example will show them the christian values and they will consider to convert in a future.
I suggest to ask the grand Duke of Burgundy about the plot and invite him to Rome to confess. If he is a good christian as he pretends, I have no doubt he will not refuse the invitation to join Burgundy envoy to the Conclave in Rome. But if he is guilty, he will not come and will not allow a Burgundian emissary to attend to the Conclave.

Dear Elizabeth de Lorraine, queen of England
we have seen the way England defines catholic faith. It means attacking a small shire when asking to investigate whether the pope is there or not and to make sure that he is not hiding in churches you are burning them down. You are right, we are not following this belief, but unfortunately I have to tell you that this is not catholic at all. So either James is not acting as an envoy of England or I guess the anathema laying on England's monarch since the days of Gregory was more valid than I ever believed.
Furthermore I am lacking a comment on the english again breaking the serbian - burgundian peace treaty. I must admit I never met a nation breaking contracts that fast. That brings us to another point. Which nation I can trust do you accept as mediator, as you must admit, the word of England is nothing anyone in the world can rely on. Or perhaps one can rely on it, as soon as James is rotting in one of your dungeons as you let him run in the world.
With best regards
Denis de Fecamp,
Grand Duke of Burgundy

Stacks, positively reams of diplomatic correspondence was addressed to England's government these days, what with the papal elections, various wars in foreign parts, negotiations with friends and enemies to England. Not to mention England's busy domestic politics, which were enough work to keep whole branches of Her Majesty's government occupied.
Bella read the copy she had received of the latest missives to England's government: Burgundy, after having done much to impede the proper execution of the Papal Elections that were to be held - before the situation largely resolved itself by the death of the alleged pope Urban II - was now complaining about England's intervention in the matter. Moreover Burgundy was claiming that England had broken peace treaties.
"Serbian - Burgundian peace proposal" Bella muttered to herself, while hunting through records - "why is it called a proposal and not treaty? Oh, in the next letter Denis de Fecamp does call it a treaty." Unfortunately that treaty had been concluded before Bella had been appointed to Her Majesty's government and Bella knew nothing offhand about that treaty.
"Hah, got one." Bella triumphantly drew a treaty out of the records, only to have the clerk in the office snatch it out of her hands. "No, no, no my lady, that is the wrong one, that concerned a different matter entirely and besides the cease fire period has since then expired. Here, this is the one you want." The clerk handed a different treaty to Bella.
"Concerning the shires..." Bella read. Concerning which shires? She wondered. Who on earth had had the writing of that treaty? It had enough holes to drive a wagon through.
Well, Bella concluded after further reading, the nations principally involved seemed to be Serbia and Croatia, with various other nations guaranteeing the peace between Serbia and Croatia. England had been one of the signatory nations guaranteeing that peace between Serbia and Croatia.
Bella could find no mention, that the signatory nations were agreeing to peace amongst themselves. And indeed, surely they had not, for, Bella remembered, there had been since then a war involving Poland, Saxony and many other nations, who had been among the signers of the Serbian Croatian peace.
Well, it could not really come as a surprise, that a nation at war with England, might grasp at any straw to save itself and might try any ploy to blacken England's reputation in the eyes of the world.
Bella was relieved to see that records proved that England's honour remained unbesmirched and as always true as gold. No doubt the English knights on site and the leaders of her Majesty's armies would find appropriate measures to take, should further unfounded accusations and slanders be uttered against England. It spoke poorly of anyone uttering them, for did not the bible say "Though shall not offer false witness against thy neighbour".
Anyway, the whole thing was not for Bella to decide, with a sigh of relief she dumped the whole mess on the desks of the higher ups in the English government to deal with. Though she rather suspected that the sight of all that paperwork might tempt at least one individual she could name to start a bonfire instead.
Well that was out of Bella's hands and not her responsibility, thank the Lord, Bella had done her duty in trying to bring clarity to the muddle.
