With the Saxonian army in tow, the most experienced troops of the west had gathered in Panonia. Morale was high and victory was certain. All Ban now had to do is come up with a plan on how to track the enemy's retreating army and prevent some of them retreating.
A great solution was found. A Byzantium soldier was captured and turned, he now acted as a spy. Being bribed and all he'll tell us where Byzantium's armies will retreat. So Ban told all of the armies to follow the guy and his directions.
While that had been done Ban came up with a plan to release the dam and flood the nearby field and the Serbian armies were retreating. This would inevitably capture some of them at least.
The battle was about to begin. Snow fell the previous day, that will even make things easier with capturing the enemy and following them. Troops started preparing, archers started shooting, horses were galloping...the charge went on.
Everything went as planned. The Aggressors Coalition had been defeated, Byzantium troops retreated and went in the direction of Slavonia, While the two Serb armies retreated one to Bosnia and one to Slavonia. But the trap has captured one of the Serbian Armies. Right along Ljudislav. He was sent to prison immediately and Ban walked right up to the soldiers under his command.
- Brave Serbian troops I salute you. - Ban made a mocking bow - You're the finest of the Serbian troops if you were led by that man - Then he pointed and Ljudislav - Now your reward for being such brave and good men is prison, You're hereby sentenced to prison for invading Croatian lands, for attacking our peasants and butchering our people. Have a nice life in prison. - Then he made a motion of his hand which his troops followed immediately orders to restrain the Serbians and to imprison them.
Ban was now at the castle with the prisoners. He started talking to his men in front of Ljudislav's cell.
- When he got captured he begged on his hands and knees not to be killed. I told him "Turn around and kneel", He did so I just kicked him straight in his arse and he went face first into the dirt. I was actually giving him the taste of Croatian soil! I made a mistake my soldiers. Then I chose to wash our dirt with the nearby river. I dragged Ljudislav to the river and threw him in, he screamed "Help me I can't swim" and almost drowned. At the lake where the river ends the soldiers told me that he was crying and shaking of fear. So you see men, the Emperor cries like a little girl and begs for mercy like a lowly beggar. That is the man you're guarding. Farewell.
The guards mocked Ljudislav for being the little bitch Ban told them that he is...

...Curses could have been heard from the commander's tent. Servants running amok everywhere. Soldiers worried. And everybody asked "What's going on?". Inside the tent Ban was lying down on his bed, with servants trying to take care of lots of his wounds. His body and condition are not as they used to be. Screams were heard and then silence...dark cold silence. Before the silence scribes wrote a letter and the last memorial of the Ban without a name. Ban is a title, Moroplovac a family's name. Noone knew his true name. His two sons Matej and Ratimir his two beloved daughters Katarina and Neda, were all of his family and even they didn't knew his name.
Matej is the youngest sibling. Having only 15 years old he was still recruited by Borna. Now serves under grof Marculius and his protection.
Ratimir is the oldest of the 4 siblings. He was thought in a Catholic Church to be a priest, the right hand of a King or Queen. Though his temperance got him into many troubles. He is like his father, a warrior at heart. He is usually called the "martial priest" and acts like it. He is a big zealot and hates everything non-Catholic.
Katarina is the oldest daughter of Ban Moroplovac, her beauty got her the hand of a powerful Baron in Southern Italy where Croatians took the lands under their protection. After the pillaging of Serbians there, her and her husbands fate is unknown.
Neda is the youngest of Ban's daughters, charming for her age and very energetic, the servants had a few problems with keeping her down because she could run around rampant around the castle and into the forrest. One time Ban had to find her. She was sitting in a little garden with her favorite flowers. Ban remembered the place and took her frequently while he was king.
and what of Ban now? How did he die?

Borna was practicing when rider aproached him bearing word for him.
"Take some rest soldier."
"My lord. I have awfull news for you. Duke Ban has passed away. He got mortaly injured in Macva and passed minute before I left Macva."
Borna felt like someone shooted him with balista. It couldn't be truth.
But then another rider arrived carrying same news. Borna felt devastated. His sorrow was to big for crying. There is nothing in this world that can expres his fellings.
"Soldier go and order General Kristian to gather all our man here."
Soldiers runed away and Borna stood up on nearby rock with axe and shield in his hands. In few minutes everyone gathered, but Borna could easily see and recognize his bodyguards and their commander, General Kristian, that had tears in his eyes. They all looked shaken but they looked impresive in their shining armor and saddnes.
"My brothers. I called for all of you to share something with you and it isn't easy for me. Duke Ban Moroplovac has passed away. He got mortaly injured in battle of Macva. Now let's all show him how thankfull we are to him and how much we apreciate all he has done for Croatia."
Then Borna started to hit his shield with his axe. Bloodless drow out their swords and started to clash them in their shields. Every soldier arround started to make noice with their weapon. Many were crying while doing it. It lasted minute or two, or perhaps hour or two, Borna didn't know. But when everyone stopped Borna ordere them to prepare for moveout.
Borna felt crushed because he couldn't do more in memory of his mentor, his friend, his brother.
But then Borna went to his tent and sent letter to Macva that Ban's body is to be transported to Istra with honor guard and to be put on special table in Great Hall so everyone could see him.
He spent some more time in his tent and then walked out and started to prepare for moveout with heavy burden on his hearth...

War was finally at its end. Only two more signatures are necesary. After 3 long years of fighting, leading, planing, organizing and suplying it will finally be over.
Borna knew no matter says on paper that Burgundian coalition won the war.
After disbanding of Croatian armies in Burgundy Serbia was in defensive, with small blitz attacks which gave them some initiative which was lost swiftily thanx to, as rumors say, ex prince Derg's lack of ability to lead the man into battle and planing course of battle and using tactics. Borna meet Derg on battle field few times and had no chance to deal with him, but he was wild savage and Borna was 100% sure that rumors are true.
Borna also heard that Derg was degraded to rank of soldier, which Borna understood as prove that rumors are true, and he was hoping that Serbia will soon find some apropriate general that could use their strenght and capabilities and not Derg who lead them to so many problems and troubles.
Borna send message to Istra to General Luka to prepare celebration.
Borna was only waiting for King Wikerus and King Charles to sign treaty...

Borna was in Panonian town hall when Kristian entered yelling out loud:
"WAR IS OVER. KING CHARLES SIGNED THE PEACE TREATY. IT IS OVER !! "
Borna rushed to Kristian to check information while others started to celebrate. Soldiers were droping their weapon womans started to cry children were rushing to their mothers.
Borna reached Kristian:
"Is it true my friend?"
"Yes my lord, few minutes ago messenger arrived bringing news. King Charles signed the peace and since he was last signer peace is concluded."
Borna huged his friend with smile on his face and told to him:
"Go now and prepare celebration here in Panonia. Today we care for nothing but celebration and sorrow of families that lost their members."
Here Borna remembered his friend Ban Moroplovac who died only few weeks before peace negotiations started. He still didn't fully recover from that. Kristian saw Borna is thinking and guessed what about.
"My lord, I am sure that Duke is watching on us, and you should be happy. You got guardian angel."
"Thank you Kristian for those words. Now go and make preparations."
Kristian simply nodded with his head and left and Borna went riding to clear his thoughts...

One war ended, another started, to be more precise continued. Not only Croatia decided to put an end to Polish tirany, but also Saxony, England, Burgundy, Pechies. Khazars, Rostov and Smolensk were already fighting Poland on east. But Borna heard that Poland summoned for all of her allies to aid, and that they all responded with sending their armies. Borna expected that and he wasn't surprised at all.
After so short time of happines and celebration of peace, people were once again in fear of losing their fathers, mothers, brothers and sister, sons and daugthers.
Armies were ready to march on Oesterecih, Burgundian armies joined them and went to war once again, together like in previous one. Borna knew what is waiting for them in Oestereich and he thought it will be easy victory.
When they arrived they didn't even crossed borders and Borna heard some strange noice. Then he heard screams and Kristians voice who was yelling:
"We're under attack. Guard the flanks."
And he was correct. Arrow volley hitted both flanks. Some soldiers were out of machine but Kristians warning was on time and soldiers had time to kneel and raise their shields. Then next thing Borna noticed was enemy charging on them on both sides. Borna ordered charge, but they were outnumbered and it was critical situation. Something needed to be done. Borna in middle of charge stoped while others were charging on both flanks.He looked around and saw clear field only few meters far. Borna ordered his cavalry to regroup there, those who heard them went there and deployed in battle formation. Borna went there also and observed situation. Burgundian were holding left flank with great casualties but succesfully, but Croatian knights were in worse situation. Ranks allready started to crack. Borna decided to split, smaller divison to go to help Burgundy and his divison to charge on enemies that were wining agaist his knights. Charge was ordered once again and as friendly soldiers saw them they got wings, soldiers that were routing went in to battle...
After it was all over Borna looked around and saw only two more man standing, great Burgundian nobles Silberwolf and Siegried Bronzbeart. It was hell of a battle, and hell of a ambush. What supposed to be easy victory almost turned in to chaos and crushing defeat. It was hell of a start in new war and Borna wondered how many battles like these are coming...

After failed siege in Javorniky Croatian armies moved to Brno to merge with Saxonian armies. Burgundy also went there and so were Pechies. Scouts were reporting Serbian armies around Croatia and one in Poland already with Hungarian army. Polish pets raised their banners to help their masters in Poland.
Borna was preparing for taking over Moravia. Then he remembered young Duke, his brothers son Matej, who was still young and training. Borna didn't have time to talk with him properly since he was occupied by many other things. Now this is a great chance to make boy a man.
Borna send his new squire Petar for Generals Kristian and Tomislav. In the meantime Borna started writing letter.

After he finished his letter he waited for few moments and then Petar came back with Borna's finest Generals.
"Petre, send this letter to young Duke by raven."
"Yes my liege."
Petar walked to do his job and Borna started conversation:
"My lords, I have sent message to young Duke, son of Ban Moroplovac, that I want to see him with his army with rest of our forces. General Kristian you will go to Oestereich, wait for him there and then guide him to us. Let him lead, and interfere only in critical situation. Oh and also take with you two of Bloodless and fifty swordsmans."
"Yes my liege, should I also grant him command upon them?"
"Yes lets see how he will handle it. General Tomislav, you are one of finest swordsman in Croatia, you will take him as your squire teach him and train him. Kristian, you ride immediately, Tomislav go and prepare our man for battle."
They both saluted and left tent...

After young Duke joined main army, Croats, Saxons and Pechies walked throughout Poland, from Brno to Beskidy, where they first encountered small resistence and where Borna signed Treaty of Minsk, and were later attacked by strong Serbian host.
After fierce battle in which Croats and Saxons were outnumbered and fought bravely, but this time numbers won the battle, they retreated to Zakarpatskaja, What a strange name Borna thought to himself, where Pechies won battle against Polish army but instanly moved to Carpatia.
Borna wondered why, because reports were coming about strong host marching on them bearing Prussian and Polish banners. Cease fire was signed but did orders reached them Borna wondered? If not they will be forced to defend themselfs and fight another fierce battle.
There were many big faces on both sides and Borna knew it will be hard battle, and since he was only at age of 31 he knew he can only do his best to win battle and try to lead his man to victory. Borna knew if there wasnt Wikerus with his knights this battle would be solved before it started, but if there wasnt Wikerus and his knights probably they would be in difrent place and position, but Borna didn't care, he was honored to fight by side of Saxon knights again, and again and again if it is necesary. It was enough of thinking, they will all go home after this day so Borna went out to prepare for battle in case it happen.

Three years, more then three years have passed since then and wound was still fresh to Borna. Borna will never forget that felling, that sorrow, worse then any battle, then any injury no matter how hard it is.
But, life goes on, and as time passed Borna learned how to handle it, and now felt nothing but emptines.
His wife haven't talked to him since he refused to help King of Castile in his maddnes, and Borna was seriously thinking about asking for breaking of marriage, but problem is, there was no Pope. There was war in Holy Land, and Borna will never fight side by side with Serbs no matter how critical situation is.
News reached him that Finns are threating Papal States and new Camerlango Norbert Valentin to stop their "rebelion" . Borna swore always to defend Papal State and he will do so if necesary.
But there were more troubling concerns now. Borna had debt to pay to King Black Raven of France and he was about to do so. Norwegians invaded France once again and there was battle coming. Borna could hardly remember his last battle, it was in Poland but Borna didn't even try to remember place of battle since war was already over.
Borna was happy to ride in to battle once again. All he had to do is think of Norwegians as Serbs and he knew that there will be hell on battle field. Borna then remembered glorious victories in Bosnia and Panonia and happines he felt then. But now Borna felt nothing, he was colder then ice in Norway, and Borna knew that there is only one thing in world that could make him fell happy again.
But Borna could not think of it now, there's a battle coming and he had to prepare his small host that counted only four hundred man for it... but Borna could not kick minds about who could make him fell happy again out of his head so easily...

Borna meet his old friend Wolfrick on battle field and said "hello" to him by hitting him two times straight in head.
Borna was thinking about that situation: In one moment you fight side by side with your friend, and in other you must hit him because you are on oposite sides. Borna did not blame Wolfrick for leaving Croatia, he left in order to find love which he didn't find in Croatia, and love was thing that was in same time most easiest to figure out and most hard to figure out.
In any case Borna was happy to see his old friend again...
